High Profile meeting headed by interior minister Nisar Ali Khan was held in Islamabad and reviewed the security plan in Rawalpindi and Islamabad for the 13 ECO summit.
Meeting decided that foolproof security would be provided to the head of states and delegations visiting Pakistan for the ECO summit.
To ensure that citizens don’t get caught up in unnecessary hassle, the interior minister has announced a public holiday in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on the 1st March while offices and schools would close at 1 PM on 28 February.
Meeting also approved a revised traffic plan for twin cities, giving the alternate routes for traffic. According to plan, Kashmir Highway would remain closed from Zero Point to Serena Hotel on 28th February and 1st March.
Traffic coming from the Golra would turn to the Faizabad from Zero Point while traffic coming from Murree would access the Zero point through convention center to Faizabad.
The alternate transportation routes are set to provide the VIP security to the foreign dignitaries.
Interior minister has appealed citizens to fully corporate for ensuring the success of ECO summit which has a vital strategic importance.
He also told that security of ECO summit is not only an administrative matter, but it has to do a lot with making a good image of Pakistan at international level.
