Administration of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has taken serious notice of an inappropriate and vulgar question in its matric examination. An inquiry committee has been set up to probe the matter and to fix the responsibility. It would submit its report in one week.
While talking to Outlook Pakistan, Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Dr Shahid Siddiqui assured, “Stern action will be taken in the light of the inquiry report. An inquiry committee has been set up to probe the matter and to fix the responsibility; It would submit its report in one week.”
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), which is named after the national poet of Pakistan, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal took this action when we shouted upon that. Users of social media showed their anger on the paper setting, the question was alarming and had posed serious questions on our educational system and specifically the curriculum.
“The head of the department must be sacked”, a social media user said.
We appreciate the so-called late action over the matter by the AIOU.
We want this investigation to be done by some outside source, any governmental institute or the court. Obviously, the internal investigations have less or no face value.
In the modern world when these type of things usually happens, rectors or the examination heads gives resignation. But perhaps we don’t live in a society which shows some morality.
