The family of late Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was murdered in Liaqautabad on 22 June 2016, intends to leave Pakistan over security concerns.
According to media reports, Azmat Sabri, brother of the late Amjad Sabri said, “Although, we have spent, all our lives in Karachi, we are now scared. Our lives are now in danger, since Amjad’s murder.”
“We feel we are always being watched and we don’t feel comfortable like this” He added.
Mother of Amjad Sabri also asked governments to help the family for moving abroad, reportedly.
Amjad Sabri left behind five kids including two sons and three daughters and two sons among his bereaved. The family thinks that moving abroad would be in best interest of the children as they would be able to live in the secure environment.
Talha Sabri and Azmat Sabri, both brothers of slain Qawwal, have also demanded from the government to bring the killers of their brothers to justice.
A splinter group of TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban) Pakistan has accepted the responsibility of the attack. While CTD (Counter Terrorism Department) had arrested the men who allegedly murdered Sabri.
The sudden death of Amjad Sabri had deprived the Pakistani nation of the great artist who was indeed a big name in the field of Qawwali who followed the footsteps of his late father and a legend Ghulam Farid Sabri.
His latest recording that went on air after his death was a song Rang that he sang with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for Coke Studio Season 9.
