There has been enough buzz around Yash Raj Film’s upcoming film Befikre for months. Starring actors Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, its posters with the two kissing, and kissing, and kissing, had created quite a stir, enough to give the movie the much-needed publicity. Now the leading actors are doing promotions.
Befikre is a romantic drama extensively shot in France, and its beautiful locales form a backdrop for the story as well. It was filmed over a period of 50 days. Portions of the movie were also shot in Mumbai.
YRF’s much-awaited film Befikre looks every inch the desi version of 2011 Hollywood film No Strings Attached that starred actors Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. It was the story about two friends who decide to make a pact to have a ‘no strings attached’ casual relationship without falling in love with each other. One looks at the trailer of Befikre, and you’ll be reminded of the very same storyline. Befikre, which means carefree, has Ranveer and Vaani turning bold in some intimate scenes too.
Ranveer had in the past said, after doing substantial period dramas like Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani, he wanted to take a break and do a light romantic film as his next. Hence, he signed on Befikre. The film will release on December 9.
The movie also marks the return of YRF honcho Aditya Chopra as the director. His last directorial was 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. This will be his fourth film as a director, as Adi Chopra mostly prefers to sit in the producer’s chair.
Vaani, who debuted in YRF’s Shuddh Desi Romance in 2013, went down south to do a Tamil film Aaha Kalyanam in 2014, until returning to her mentor Adi Chopra for this film.
The trailer of Befikre was released amid much fanfare at the Eiffel Tower.
Vishal-Shekhar and Jaideep Sahni produce the music of the film, has penned down the lyrics. They are returning to collaborate with the banner after around nine years. The music is splendidly good, and the songs are chartbusters.
