Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) Winter-Festive had notable showcases. The event continued for three days and had a mix of renowned and upcoming designers, celebrating the festivities of autumn/winter be it weddings, charity balls or formal dinners and parties. The event kicked off in Karachi, turning the “city of lights” gloomier, the hub of Pakistan economy, film TV and fashion usually had few moments of joy but the week had freshened the aesthetic sense of karachites.
Renowned designers took part and showcased their new collections. From HSY’s cool yet unorthodox collection to Shamaeel Ansari and Amir Adnan displaying royalty at its best, and to Maheen Karim sticking to the theme and stealing the show with her party wear, casual wear.
The Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) show had something for everyone; show opened with men styles, and we were overwhelmed to see an array of sleek black and regal-hued fusion of western wear. Models carried tuxedos to suits jackets so conveniently. Wedding collections for men were also after patterned suit jackets. These types of shows are healthy for the society, and it not only showcased the talents but also provoke males to be better in shape and style.
Shamaeel Ansari & Amir Adnan put forward a costume collection for the TV series, Kosem Sultan. As the drama depicts characters from the Ottoman Empire, the costumes were based on that era. Maheen Karim nailed what winter festive is all about: glitz, glamour and fun. Suffuse by Sana Yasir stayed true to her signature aesthetics with her latest collection. Actor Momal Sheikh wore the graceful, and elegant sari made most of the people admirers. Taking a cue from his vision of a superwoman, HSY showcased a monochromatic collection. Models walked the ramp in beaded fringe and fur dupattas as well.
Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) held biannually since 2010 by the pioneering Fashion Pakistan Council the winter edition always left some great memories. The current Chairperson of the Council, Designer Deepak Perwani arranged the visit of Indian actor Pooja Bhatt too for the event. The event showcased almost 2-0 established and new designers, showing the world that we are the nation with great aesthetic sense, and not only we have our traditional unique styles but also we have managed to create a cocktail of eastern and western collections. The show proved that the Pakistan and specially karachites are beautiful people with beautiful minds.
