Government approves more than Rs 900mn for renovation of Lahore Fort

The government has consented to millions of rupees grant for up gradation of historical Lahore Fort.

Department of Planning and Development has approved 964 mn Rs for the decoration and renovation of the historical Lahore Fort.

In the meeting of provincial development working party, the government has agreed upon the PC -One for the renewal of Lahore Fort.

Shami-Kitchen, Dewan-e-Khas, Alamgiri Gate, Moti Masjid, Alamgiri Gate, Shahi Hamam, Shahi gate and Akbari gate would be renovated in the first plan, utilizing the issued funds.

In present financial year, Rs 500 mn would be issued for the first part of the plan that would aim at renovating the Shami Kitchen and Akbari Gate, restoration of Akbari Gate would link Lahore fort to Walled City.

The great Royal Fort that stands along the Grand Royal Mosque was a residence of Moghul emperors during their rule on sub-continent. Few sections of the fort date back to the reign of Mughal emperor Akbar. Located on the northern side of the walled city. Spread over an area of 20 hectares, the fortress hosts thousands of visitors on daily basis who are interested in seeing the masterpiece of architecture and glorious Old Lahore with an enchanting mysticism
