Laptop scheme ends for students in Punjab, no more fun ahead

Punjab government has decided to end the laptop scheme that the previous government of PML-N had introduced to equip the students with the latest technology.

According to details, the provincial minister for education Murad Ras has announced that he is ending the laptop scheme and instead it will be replaced by a project for building computer labs in the province.

Earlier, the reports coming from NAB suggested that Ahad Cheema, a bigwig in the previous government, was accused of looting the national exchequer under the laptop scheme.

Rs. 20,000 laptop was overpriced to Rs. 38,000 and the computer provider (contractor) was paid over Rs. 1.5 billion from the Bank of Punjab as per the heightened prices.

The recent announcement has come following the death of Prime Minister laptop scheme. An announcement came from Federal Minister for Information, Fawad Chaudhary, soon after PTI government came to power to abolish the laptop scheme for the students.
