Punjab government has issued orders to change the uniform of Punjab Police. Mian Mansha’s Nishat Mills Ltd. is obliged for a contract to make up to 300,000 new apparels for the corpses.
Textile company has already produced 50,000 apparels of the new design.
According to sources, the Punjab Police Squad would parade on 23rd March in its new uniform that has an olive green color and is different from the current Greyish Black color that makes Police to look distinct,
As part of the first step of the distribution process, 15000 newly designed uniforms are being distributed among the corps starting from District Police Headquarter Qila Gujar Singh Police Lines.
Delivery process of new dresses would be complete until the November of the current year.
Earlier higher Police officials including Additional I.G Punjab had rejected the sample given by the IG Punjab. Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif had reprimanded IG Punjab Police.
Currently, Punjab Police has a Blackish Grey suit that makes it quite distinct. Mostly forces in Pakistan including Pakistan Army and Rangers have uniforms that fall in the spectrum of Khaki. With the new olive green color, Punjab Police’s is likely to lose its distinction that was a part of its identity due to its current uniform.
