Pakistani captain Misbah-ul-Haq has hit back to the Chappell’s harsh comments about Pakistan team’s performance by rebutting his words.
According to ESPN Cricinfo Misbah termed such remarks to be “uncalled for and unbecoming” on behalf of someone having such popularity like Chappell.
After Pakistan had lost all three Test matches on the Australian land, Chappel had remarked in an interview that Australia should not invite Pakistani cricket team in future unless and until it is fully prepared and capable of providing the real challenge to Kangaroos.
“You can’t continue to [play poor] cricket. You can’t bowl poorly, have conservative field placings and field sloppily and expect to play decent cricket in Australia,” Chappel said in his interview.
While defending the Pakistan’s position and rebutting the Chappell’s comments on the grounds of the Australian cricket team’s performance in Asia, Misbah said, “Australia themselves have been on the losing side in the recent away tours. They were clean swept by a Sri Lanka team that did not have Mahela Jayawardena or Kumar Sangakkara and some of their players didn’t even have 10 Tests to their names.”In the recent past, they have been whitewashed by us in the UAE and India.”
Misbah raised his objections in his column he wrote for the cricket.com.au. While criticizing the performance of Pakistani cricket team Chappell had also commented that Pakistani team was unable to show up with good performance as it lacked the leadership, he also slammed the captaincy of Pakistani captain; perhaps the man didn’t know that Misbah is among the most successful captains Pakistani cricket has ever seen.
