Leading from the front is easy said than done, but not for Misbah. For him, it was just another day in the office when Pakistani batsmen faced in-swingers and bouncers from the West Indian pacers. The captain scored a beautiful knock of 99 to keep his side in competition.
Answer the 312 scored by the Windies; team Pakistan opened its innings beautifully with Azhar Ali hitting 105 and Ahmad Shahzad reaching 70 in just 191 balls. Latters, however, couldn’t stand their grounds with both Babar Azam and Younis Khan returning to pavilion for mere ducks. Pakistan lost 3 wickets in quick succession and the entire pressure fell on Misbah, but he handled it beautifully.
Standing his ground, Misbah batted beautifully adding valuable runs to the score sheet. Truly a man for the crises, he selflessly carried the team but unfortunately couldn’t reach his century. He was bowled out at 99 by JO Holder.
Twitter was quick to react on his brilliant performance. The thing which caught the limelight was his second 99 in consecutive tests. For those who don’t know, Misbah played very-well in the last test and went on to score 99. He could easily have a couple of centuries in his farewell series. But, Alas!

Twitter claims Misbah to be the only batsman having scored 99 at three different occasions in the history of Test Cricket. Only if these were three centuries!!!
Certain celebrity fans of our captain also took their time to add to his praise.
A certain state of euphoria captivates the fans whenever Misbah is playing. Unfortunately, that won’t last long. It’s his last series and we are already sad over his retirement. Though you’re leaving Misbah, but your legacy shall remain.
We hope that cricket in Pakistan finds someone as dependable and consistent as our captain has been his entire career.
