The legendary Indian actor Om Puri has passed away Mumbai due to the heart attack. His friend and filmmaker Ashok Pundit confirmed the sad news oh his demise on Twitter. The 66 years old actor hailed from the Ambala, Haryana.
According to Indian media, he had returned home after a shoot on Thursday evening, but in next morning he didn’t answer the doorbell.
The actor was very well versed in acting, he had studied acting from the Film Institute of India and National School of Drama. Om Puri who is an icon of the Indian art films is prominent among the row of artists that consist of Shabana Azmi, Samita Patil, Amrish Puri and Naseeruddin Shah. Om Puri also appeared in Hollywood films too. Last year he made did he debut in Pakistani film Actor in Law that was a box office hit.
The actor always advocated for peace through the medium of art. That’s why he didn’t hesitate to work in a Pakistani film upon receiving an offer. He also strongly condemned the ban on art and artists on each side of border amidst the ongoing clashes between India and Pakistan.
Upon the sudden departure of Om Puri, celebrities in India and Pakistan took to Twitter and expressed their sentiments.
