Gone are the days when we had to wait hours to watch latest wrestling events on our TV screens. Now, wrestling has come to Pakistan, well-known wrestlers have started displaying their fighting skills yesterday at KMC Sports Complex. It is a wonderful entertainment and healthy activity for the people of Pakistan.
It’s a dream of wrestling fans that has converted to reality. Former WWF great Wade Barrett, Tiny Iron, Yacine Osmani, Bernard Vandamme, Fabio Ferrari and identity of Pakistan wrestling Badshah Pehlwan Khan all will play at no other place than in the heart of Pakistan.
The mega wrestling event will host top wrestling stars from USA Australia, Italy, France, and Germany. Yesterday, all foreign wrestlers landed on Karachi and enjoyed their visit to Karachi. Few players had already reached Karachi to motivate spectators for the upcoming event.
Wrestling is not a popular sport in Pakistan as we have no infrastructure and dedicated players for this game. It is an expensive game and culturally fighting is considered a taboo more than entertainment. But this does not mean that this game of fighting has no fan following in Pakistan.
Youngsters in general and teens, in particular, became aggressive when someone changes the channel at where the Undertaker, the Rock, Bautista or Wade Barrett fights. But, now the game is going live in Karachi, they need not worry. They may not find the undertaker or Bautista because they get retirement from the game, but they can watch Bernanrd Vandamme and many others.
All the International players are enjoying wrestling in Pakistan Wade Barrett the (WWE) best said that “We are excited to be here, it is my first time in Pakistan. I have heard that fans here are really incredibly passionate and excited for wrestling,”
The women wrestlers are also present in Karachi, waiting for their turn to land in the ring. The credit for the arrangement of the whole event goes to Pro Wrestling Entertainment (PWE) group Director Imran Shan and CEO Syed Asim Ali Shah.
PWE Director Imran Shah said that we are planning to arrange four more events including Women’s title and Tag team title. All these events are first of its kind and performance of international players is not less than a blessing for the sports lover.
There are more than twenty wrestlers from around the world taking part in the event in Karachi. Major personalities from Karachi including Sindh sports minister and Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar participated in the opening ceremony that kicked off yesterday on May 17. The event will move to Lahore and Islamabad on 19th and 21st May respectively.
