Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem Khan defeated Giemel Magramo of Philippines while defending his WBC (World Boxing Council) Silver Flyweight title in Seoul, North Korea on Sunday.

To celebrate his impressive win Javed Afridi, the owner of PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi has decided to give a warm welcome to Waseem at the airport along with rewarding him with the PKR 2.5 million.

On a Twitter message, Javed Afridi also announced to make the Waseem Khan ambassador for his team Peshawar Zalmi and also vowed to sponsor all his future events.

Javed Afridi is emerging as a very active sports philanthropist as he is seen making personal efforts to promote different sports in Pakistan. As an attempt to re-launch cricket diplomacy for the betterment of relations between India and Pakistan, Afridi met the Chairperson BCCI, Anurag Thakur to negotiate on the matter of an IPL Vs PSL tournament. As a result of this, Anurag Thakur had agreed to consider the cricket match between IPL and PSL at a third place. Javed Afridi had expressed that he requested BCCI chairman for the event as he knew that many IPL teams and players were willing to play with PSL.

Muhammad Waseem Khan who is also known as the Falcon Khan due to his swift style of boxing was born in Quetta, the 29 years old boxing star of Pakistan started his professional boxing career in 2015 and won all the competitions.

Waseem Khan became the first ever South Asian boxer to win the title of Silver Weight after he defeated the Jether Oliva in July 2014.
