PSL 2017 final would take place at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore on 5 March, according to schedule.
It was decided in a meeting that Lahore would be the venue for PSL final even if foreign players don’t come to Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman PSL Najam Sethi and owners of all the five franchises.
The recent terrorist attacks starting from the deadliest Lahore blast at Mall road had jeopardized the fate of PSL final in Pakistan. The current decision taken by PCB has come out as a strong reply to terrorism.
Earlier, Mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar had also offered to hold the concluding match of the tournament in Karachi.
The decision is welcomed by many current and ex-players of Pakistan cricket team. According to media reports, many foreign players have still shown their interest in playing the final of the tournament in Lahore. Many international players have also shown their interest in redrafting for PSL final.
“It was a good and healthy decision to hold final in Lahore. Qaddafi stadium would fall short of a place to accommodate the crowd”, said Ramiz Raja, former cricketer, and commentator.
“We hope that cricket fans would make PSL final successful. Foreign players should think that they are going to be a part of history”, said former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar.
