Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who is one of the greatest musicians in Pakistan was on Google live, and it broke the internet. Qawwali legend was gracing the occasion at the Google Live stream event. There he also discussed the Sufi music heritage that one could see in Pakistan in particular and in the subcontinent in general. The VP Anwar Akram facilitated the whole occasion as Rahat goes around the world to honor the everlasting legacy of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He provided a good news to his fans with the news that he would be soon releasing his album Qawwali. There was a Q & A session by the Googlers in which Rahat answered all their questions.
The event came to a standstill when he went through with the performance of some of Nusrat’s greatest hits such as “Sanson Ki Maala” and Dillagi. He was accompanied at the occasion by his brother Wajahat Ali Khan and his cousin Farhat Ali Khan. About 2000 people watched the event, but millions across the world were able to enjoy his performance courtesy his collaboration and streaming of the performance at Google Live. The performance can be watched and enjoyed here.
It has to be noted that since the relations between India and Pakistan have gone awry, his presence is just a bit diluted in the Indian movies. He was appreciated for his talent as well as other Pakistani artists. But his fans have enough reasons to celebrate due to the fact that his songs would grace many Pakistani movies as well. This speaks volume about the musical talent of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan that despite the fact Nusrat Fateh Aii Khan was one of the biggest musical icons of the region, he has created his own path. Hoping that law and order situation in Pakistan would improve to the extent that Pakistani public would be able to watch him live.
