Sharjeel Khan on bookies

Sharjeel Khan played according to his deal with the bookie in the first match of PSL 2017 that was between Islamabad United and Karachi Kings.

Chairman PCB Shehreyar Khan said in a press conference, “Proofs exist that Sharjeel Khan proceeded in the game according to his plans with the bookie.”

Talking about the spot-fixing scandal in PSL, Shehreyar Khan told that charge sheet had been given to players and they are asked to submit an answer within 14 days. Both cricketers have confessed that they committed the mistake. He also told that there was a contradiction in Sharjeel Khan’s official statement and the one given prior.

While commenting on the corruption in PSL, he remarked that threat of such corruption scandals in such tournament is always there, after the success of the first season of PSL, it was more likely that bookies would take a chance to malign the players.

He informed further that investigations were underway against Muhammad Irfan who was in contact with bookies but didn’t report it to the security officials.

While talking about the prospects of Misbah-ul-Haq in international cricket, he told that Misbah should say him whether he wanted to continue playing or not. Any statements from other resources are baseless in this regard.

PSL 2017 was hit with spot-fixing scandal after it was found that Islamabad United players like Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Lateef were involved in making deals with bookies. The inquiry was started against Muhammad Irfan too who was temporarily cleared by the ACU (Anti-corruption Unit).
