Pakistani Media has always dealt the marriage of Imran Khan as a national issue. Whenever the nation faces, any Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman always takes the lead in expressing his sentiments.
On the critical issue of PTI chairman Imran Khan’s third marriage, Maulana couldn’t stop himself to give a fruitful advice to Khan. While responding to a question at the residence of late PPP leader Jahangir Badar, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed that he wouldn’t advise the Khan to continue with plans for his third marriage.
Don’t think that Maulana thought it inappropriate for Khan to marry third time on political grounds or he considered it as a threat to Khan’s activism as PMLN’s tough opponent rather Maulana was a bit jealous. He only lamented his unpopularity in media regarding his personal life by saying
“Wherever I go the question of Khan Sahib’s wedding is asked, but no one bothers to ask about mine,”
Keeping in view the current situation of turmoil on Line of Control and atrocities of India in Kashmir, there already exist plenty of issues on which Maulana can talk and maintain his presence on media. Perhaps he thinks that real source of particular media attention is the only marriage of a celebrity, whether it is Meera, Imran Khan or Angelina Jolie. What he does not know is that to be a centre of rumours for one’s wedding it requires to pay extra attention to the personal grooming. There is a difference between an athlete-cum-model who spent her youth while mesmerising the western ladies and an Orthodox Mulla who’s traditional perception is just of a clerk reading the books on Maut ka Manzar (Death Scene) before the audience.
